Grassroots Development Initiatives Foundation-Kenya (GRADIF-K) is a Community Development Foundation supporting the improvement of living standards of disadvantaged Children and other vulnerable community groups in poverty stricken areas in Kenya. To promote effectiveness, quality and sustainability of projects/programs, GRADIF-K works with organized, legally registered community groups in the implementation of age-appropriate, Rights based, Gender responsive, Cultural relevant and Environmental friendly community based poverty reduction programs in the country. All programs contribute towards the realization of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and in the realization of the wellbeing of the key targeted groups in Kenya. We work closely with the relevant Government of Kenya departments, development partners including development agencies and Non governmental organizations, institutions and community technical resource persons in the implementation of all programs.

GRADIF-K Monitoring units training and strengthening summary report
With support USAID through ACT Kenya (formerlyPACT),GRADIF conducted 2 trainings for the constituency monitoring units in Nithi and Meru counties. The first training started on the 24th and ended on 26th October 2010 at Meru County Hotel. 40 units drawn from 5 constituencies of Meru attended the 1st training hailing from North, South and Central Imenti, Igembe South and North. The 2nd training was held in the same venue kicked off on 27th and ended on 29thOctober 2011
Maternal Health And Child Survival
GRADIF MNCH program is informed by the fact that maternal mortality in Kenya has remained unacceptably high and that most maternal deaths are due to causes directly related to pregnancy and childbirth, unsafe abortion and obstetric complications such as severe bleeding, infection, hypertensive disorders, and obstructed labor while others are due to causes such as malaria, diabetes, hepatitis, and anaemia, which are aggravated by pregnancy.
Education
GRADIF-K recognizes the role of education in both the development of individuals, families , communities and the nation as a whole and supports all the key components of a quality education programmes which promotes holistic development of children, successful transition and progression of children at all levels.The goal of education is to promote literacy rates among community members for meaningful social-economic, moral and political development.
Governance
Governance concerns the state’s ability to serve her citizens. It refers to the rules, processes and behavior by which interests are articulated, resources are managed, and power is exercised in society. GRADIF-K believes that the government, organizations and other agencies make better decisions and have greater positive impact on the communities/citizens when they increase the frequency, range, and level of engagement of communities.
